MAKING WAVES: WORKS FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION

With a distinct Nova Scotia focus, this exhibition navigates the confluence of peoples and ideas brought together in the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s Permanent Collection. Through a selection of key works ranging in period from historic to contemporary, embraced is Nova Scotia’s inextricable ties to the coast and the sea. In these examples of painting, folk art, sculpture, printmaking and video, to name some, the unique stories and tales of this place, Canada’s Ocean Playground, are brought to the fore.

The exhibition includes over 40 works by major artists such as: David Askevold, Marion Bond, Alex Colville, Forshaw Day, Gerald Ferguson, Tom Forrestall, Marsden Hartley, Annie Leibovitz, Maud Lewis, Joe Norris, Elizabeth Styring Nutt, Alan Syliboy and The Group of Seven.
