Creative Minds: Unearthing Colour

Join us for a conversation with Erin Comeau as she walks us through the foraging and discovery practices that help guide her creative process. Emphasizing locally sourced colours, she believes each paint has an interesting story to tell.

Erin Comeau is a librarian and lifelong learner. Her early fascination with Nova Scotia geology and deep appreciation of nature recently led her to discover the ancient techniques of paint making and in turn, the history of the planet. Using her kitchen as a lab and the various corners of her house for a studio, she works mainly with mineral pigments and watercolour paint. Her more recent experiments with botanical inks and lake pigments have further enhanced her local colour palette.
