This drop-in activity is inspired by Maud Lewis’ iconic Painted House. Using a variety of materials, you are invited to create your own artwork shingle to add to the painted house, an almost-to-scale image of Maud’s home. Inspired by Maud’s keen observation of the world around her, create something that reflects on these ideas:
- What do you notice outside your window, at home, or in your community?
- What are the things that are important to you?
- What patterns, designs, or images tell a story about your interests?
This project will run from November 2022 until May 2023 and will bring together hundreds of individual adorned shingles by visitors to the Gallery, creating a large, colourful installation-a reimagining of Maud Lewis’ Painted House and our collective communities.
