#TBT: FIRST-EVER JOURNAL MAGAZINE IN 1983

You can’t get more #TBT than the very first edition of our print magazine, theJournal, which premiered in November 1983.

Distributed to our members as part of annual memberships, as well as to partners and arts institutions locally, regionally and across the country – and at one time for sale in the Gallery Shop – the Journal has become one of our most-coveted offerings that continues to offer in-depth articles and updates on our exhibitions and works in the Permanent Collection.

From the very beginning, the Journal has focused on covering and promoting its range of educational programs and Gallery services.

The page above was part of the American Accents article that explored the exhibition’s “intent to show the range and quality of American art in the past twenty-five years.” Who else wishes they could go back in time to see this in person?

We even produced some art-based ads for ourselves, including this one below, which appeared on the last page…

Today, the magazine remains a truly interesting and exclusive benefit for our members to dig deeper into art. For members hungry for a new edition, we’re just about to send the latest edition to print! Keep your eyes open for the spring issue coming soon.
